Set of 2 napkins, approximately 14" square. Mordant printed, dyed in cochineal, hemmed with yellowy thread and mitered corners!

(These are so good! The particular colors are a little tricky to capture, so I've included a few views. It is a muted purple on mustardy yellow.)

About the Process
Aluminum/Ferrous acetate is screenprinted on heavy mustard linen, then submerged in a cochineal dye bath. The dye adheres to the mordant-printed areas, (the drawing) and the background becomes lightly tinted. Care: Machine wash cool, tumble dry low or hang dry for best results. Cochineal has been used as a dye since ancient times, for its excellent light and wash-fastness. It may fade a bit, but every thing fades beautifully in time on our good green earth!

Linen is amazing! Strong and absorbent and grows softer with use. These are not fancy napkins; use them every day!
